Project Namayani Update
Quarterly Update · Advent 2026 · Two blessings and a prayer request

Dear Friends and Partners in Ministry,
Grace and peace to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. As we enter this season of Advent, I want to share an update on Project Namayani, our effort to build a church, a kitchen, and a school for the Maasai believers in Tanzania who still worship under the shade of a tree. I’ll start with two pieces of good news.
Good news #1
A new partner: Mount Airy Calvary United Methodist Church
I am thrilled to share that Mount Airy Calvary United Methodist Church has joined us as a new partner and has made a pledge to the project this Christmas season. With their generous commitment, our total pledged amount has reached $15,000 of our $80,000 goal. Our plan is to complete this project over four years, and this gift is a wonderful step forward. Thank you, Mount Airy Calvary UMC, for your faithful generosity!

Good news #2
Our new website: steppingstoneglobalmission.org
Steppingstone Global Mission, the organization leading this project, has launched a new website. There you can find more information about Project Namayani, our ministry, and how to get involved. Please visit the site and share it with your family, friends, and church community. Passing it along is one of the easiest and most powerful ways to help.
You can also watch our 2-minute video about Project Namayani. It is a short, simple way to introduce the project to others, so please feel free to share it.
A prayer request
A difficult setback
I also have some difficult news. A church we had hoped would cover about 50% of the total project has decided not to support Project Namayani.
What was even more shocking was the reason they gave. They backed away, saying:
“We do not want to support Christians in a different country; rather, we help our OWN people.”
Honestly, it was a shocking and frustrating response. I believe this attitude will be the greatest barrier we have to overcome, and it will keep coming back again and again. The Maasai believers worshiping under a tree are our brothers and sisters in Christ, and the Body of Christ has no borders. I believe now is the time to pray, so that we may discern what we are called to do as Christians.
This loss means we will need much more effort, and many more partners, to reach our goal.

How you can help
1. Pray for this project, for the Maasai communities, and for the leaders serving them.
2. Stay engaged and keep this ministry close to your heart.
3. Help me make new connections. If you know a church, organization, or individual who might be interested in this mission, please introduce us or share the website with them.
Even in this setback, I trust that God is faithful and will provide in His time. Together, we can help build a sacred space where faith will grow, children will learn, and the love of Christ will be shared for generations to come.
Thank you for your prayers, your encouragement, and your partnership.
In Christ,
Steven Cho
