Building Churches in Tanzania
Project Namayani
Help us build a church, a kitchen, and a school for a Maasai congregation that still worships under a tree.
The Tree Church
Faith without walls
Two of our ministry partners, Rev. Kim and his wife Namayani, have planted more than fifteen Christian communities among the Maasai people of Kenya and Tanzania.
Many of these believers still gather outdoors. Even without walls or a roof, they come every week to sing, pray, and praise God under the open sky. They lovingly call it their “Tree Church.” Their faith is strong, though their resources are few.
When we asked our partners about their greatest need, they answered without hesitation: “A church building.”

The Meaning of the Name
“Namayani”
A Maasai word meaning “the blessed one who shares the blessing.”
It is also the Maasai name of a beloved missionary who has devoted her life to sharing God’s love among the Maasai people. This project carries her spirit and continues her mission: to bless others as we have been blessed.
What a Church Makes Possible
From tree to sanctuary
Our partners have done this before. Here is how a congregation’s journey unfolds.

STEP 01
Building together
With simple tools and humble hands, local members carry water, mix cement, and pray as they work, brick by brick.

STEP 02
Dedication day
People come from nearby villages. There is singing, clapping, and dancing as the doors open for the first time: “Praise God! The Lord has done it!”

STEP 03
A center of life
The church becomes the heart of the community, offering education, health programs, and the Good News to children and families.
